Pay It Forward

(This is a sticky post...scroll down for newer content.)

UPDATED: Comments are now closed as I'm drawing the winners now.

Last month I won my new friend, Greenstyle Mommy's Pay It Forward contest.

Kristen sent me a lovely card from Hope for Women. It's a beautiful notecard. I love stationery and this is for a great cause, so all the more lovely! And a really cool Coffee Cuff from Gretchen's Creations, it's a reusable sleeve for your coffee cup to keep my little hands from burning.

Now, it's my turn to PIF.

I'll be sending an assortment of Burt's Bees items to THREE lucky people. Seriously! An assortment of all natural personal care items. No yucky SLS, petroleum or parabens here, folks. Just good stuff!

In addition to the assortment of Burt's Bees goodies, I'll also be making a $25 donation to the charity of the three winners' choices (a total of $75)! So, in your comment, please also add the charity that you'd like for me to donate to. This isn't a requirement for you to do if you are a PIF winner, just a little something extra that I wanted to do, prompted by a little inspiration from Smiler.

All you need to do it to leave a comment on this post and I'll enter you into the drawing. Please tell your friends about it too. For every friend you send to comment on this post, you'll get an extra entry. So...here's what you do. Just comment. If you are referred by someone, just comment and leave the name of the person who sent you here.

Now...here's the tiny and simple condition. If you are a winner, you then "pay it forward" by sending a small gift to three people. It doesn't need to be extravagant or fancy, just something thoughtful. Got it? Make sense? Good!

On January 16th I'll choose the winners and you'll receive your PIF gifts shortly after. And yes, I will ship internationally.

Looks like I'm the first person to enter the contest! How fun. I love the idea of a pay it forward gift. It seems like a great way to spread some good karma and get your blog noticed by people all at the same time.

Mmm...Burt's Bees.

What an awesome concept. I love the paying it forward. Very cool.

I'm in! Love Burt's Bees and love paying it forward :)

And you can keep this as a sticky by changing the post date to, for example, January 16 since that's the last day of the contest :)

Thanks so much for letting me know about this! I LOVE BB's products. LOVE!!! I got some stuff in my stocking for Christmas.

I will put a notice on my blog. I reeeeeally wanna win! Especially because January 17th is my birthday.

Sticky post: Post date the post you want to stay "sticky" by dating it January 16th at whatever time (or whatever date and time you want the post to stay first). Does that make sense?

Great idea, GEG!

Here's my comment, yo!

Btw, if you put a date way in the future on this blog post, it will stay up until that future date happens (or you change it again).

Just go to edit this post, and you'll see right under the text editing box, "Post Options" If you click that, you can change the post date to anything you want. Just pick something like, in the year 2020 or something. Whenever you want it to "go away" change it back to the original date.

:-D

Just as a warning, though, the last time I tried a "pay it forward" type event on my blog it totally fell flat on its face, so if I win it might totally die with me. Just sayin'. :)

I'm here! Better late than never, right? I love Burt's Bees stuff. I was getting all kinds of free product from my job, but since I've been on leave... nada. Which is fair enough.

I see you've gotten all the tips you need on sticky posts. There is another way which involves adding a page element (using the HTML/Javascript option if you want to add photos). The main advantage of the method I prefer to use is you don't have some wonky date at the top of your posts. That's what I did to have my little "back to home page" button there, since something went wrong with my header which I haven't been able to figure out yet.

I like the idea of pay it forward but there's something I just don't get really... is it just about sending out gifts to people or is it helping some charity of cause or something? Because if it's not, as much as I like Burt's bees I'd say to not put me in the draw. I have a hard enough time getting out of the house as it is and only get out for things like doctors appointments which I have to go to most every week.

Am I right in guessing that's who you work for? Because I've seen mentions of their products a few times here it seems. Or maybe you already talked about it and I missed it, in which case I am deeply ashamed.

Have you joined Blog 365 yet? I'm designing some badges for it. Some quite graphic ones but then I'll be making some funky ones with vintage images too. Ok. I've blabbed enough, bye for now! :-)

Barbara said...

Oh, please do enter me!!! My charity of choice is UNICEF. Thanks!!

Stumbled across u a few days ago looking for South Beach info. Didn't know it was you until I read several posts and then it was like 'hey! i know her!' I feel like I am seeing u in a completely diff way! So happy to hear that you're doing well. Can't believe Brooke is a Mommy!!! Love the contest! Is it weird if I check up on your blog occasionally?

Kathryn said...

Please, please, please let me win...I promise to PIF :)

Goodness gracious! I was just coming over to see how the badge looked here and now this! That's very generous of you. I didn't mean it as a criticism I sure hope you didn't take it that way!

In that case, the cause I'd like you to donate to is on my blog - we're contributing to send books to Africa. Which... I guess that means you can add me in the contest. Maybe I can offer logos or mastheads which don't require me to actually go outside. :-)

I answered you on my blog too btw. Glad you joined, yay!

p.s. If you like I'll given you the code to use so your button can link bag to the 365 hub. Let me know!

Wow what a great idea, once I get a few extra bucks I think I will do this as well. Things have been very tight here for the past few months.

If I should be one of the lucky winners, I'd love for the money to be donated here; http://www.roswellpark.org/Giving

Roswell Park Cancer Institute, my husband is being treated here currently for lymphoma and they are so wonderful to the patients and their families. Some of the nurses even chipped in to get our daughters a small Christmas present.

Dear Geggie, the lovely Miss Kathleen Newlove sent me your way. Paying it forward; it should be mandatory of U.S. Citizens and illegal immigrants alike. Maybe we'd be less like a bunch of a*#holes and more like a bunch of do-gooders. Ah, a girl can dream! A charity I appreciate is D.A.R.E.--their t-shirts are pretty cool. :o)
