100 Things About Me

All of the cool kids are doing it, so I figured I'd do it too.

1. My name is Gayle.
2. I have one brother, John, he's three years younger than me.
3. My parents will celebrate their 36th wedding anniversary this year.
4. I was born in Staten Island, NY.
5. I was raised in Louisiana.
6. I consider Louisiana my home.
7. I'm 1/2 first generation American.
8. My dad came to the US when he was 9 from Scotland.
9. I had all 4 of my grandparents until I was 21.
10. I've lived in 13 houses in my life.
11. But I only changed schools three times.
12. In retrospect, it wasn't so traumatic.
13. Kids are fair more resilient than parents give them credit for being.
14. I've been with my boyfriend, Patrick, for almost three years.
15. I love to travel.
16. I made a committment to myself when I was 29 to travel outside of the US every year for the rest of my life.
17. So far, so good. And even more than once some years.
18. I like getting older.
19. I feel better about myself as I get older.
20. The best thing I ever did was quit my job of 9 years in April 2005 without any thought and without a backup plan.
21. It taught me what I'm made of.
22. I'm made of some pretty good stuff.
23. I'm bossy.
24. Patrick says I'm willful. I'm sure my parents would agree.
25. Compared to kids today, I was a pretty easy kid.
26. I was still a major handful.
27. I'm a serious back talker. Still am.
28. I despise injustice.
29. I root for the underdog.
30. I'm more of a cat person than a dog person.
31. The favorite place that I've traveled to is Prague, Czech Republic.
32. New Orleans is my favorite city in the whole world.
33. I'm very generous.
34. I'm sure I've been taken advantage of a few times.
35. I have practiced and just about perfected the art of "no".
36. I hate the gym.
37. I have food and weight issues.
38. I love the color of my eyes.
39. I have good skin.
40. I love my lips with red, glossy lipstick.
41. I don't like shaving my legs.
42. I have potential to be super granola.
43. Under the right circumstances, I could also be super prissy.
44. I am a planner.
45. I like to get my way.
46. The best way to assure that I get my way is to plan everything.
47. I like to cook.
48. I love a freshly made bed with clean sheets.
49. Peanut butter and bacon sandwiches and a glass of chocolate milk is one of the best memories of my childhood.
50. And 7-Up or Sprite mixed with grape juice.
51. I can't stand racism.
52. Sometimes I think I have racist thoughts because that's what I was raised with.
53. I'm a good story teller.
54. I have a freakishly good memory.
55. I'm not a very good speller.
56. I can't stand California.
57. Except San Francisco. I love San Francisco.
58. I think I might want to have children.
59. I'm a little worried that it won't happen for me.
60. I'm scared that I won't have a legacy.
61. I'm scared that I'll die alone...the crazy cat lady.
62. I can be lazy.
63. I'm pretty competitive.
64. I have mounds of useless trivia stored in my brain.
65. I love to read.
66. I've never studied speed reading, but I'm a really fast reader.
67. I don't like to study. Never did.
68. I'm a procrastinator.
69. I generally perform well under pressure.
70. I've never eaten a whole artichoke.
71. I want to go on an African safari.
72. I want to have a library someday.
73. I hate to unload the dishwasher, do laundry and vaccuum.
74. I get an odd sense of satisfaction cleaning toilets, washing dishes and cleaning out the refrigerator.
75. I have a southern accent.
76. I've lived in Phoenix for almost 10 years.
77. I would like to move somewhere else.
78. I love my job.
79. I talk to my mom almost every day.
80. I talk to Patrick every single night before I go to bed.
81. I love to drink ice cold milk out of a frozen beer glass that I bought in Czech Republic.
82. I'm technologically impaired.
83. I'm not really that into music.
84. I just listen to NPR when I'm in the car.
85. I want to get married.
86. Hopefully to Patrick.
87. I'm terrified of my parents' dying.
88. I'm a loud talker.
89. I love going out for a great meal with friends and spending hours drinking wine and visiting and sharing.
90. I have been known to drink directly out of the milk jug.
91. My favorite color is pink.
92. I took French for several years in high school.
93. When in Paris, I asked a taxi driver to take us to the Eiffel Tower in French. He couldn't understand me. I had to ask in English, he finally understood me.
94. I get frustrated by indecision.
95. I hate wishy washy people.
96. I'm a fast typer.
97. I have bad handwriting.
98. I like lists.
99. I'm a good saver.
100. I'll be making another 100 things list soon.

Interesting blog, I think I'll blogmark you for future browsing! Have you considered taking a trip up to the Northwest Territories in Canada on one of your yearly world-bound excursions? I'd suggest you'd come in the winter though; Sure it's just a teeny bit cold (we keep telling people to bring proper jackets) but the sights are worth it not to mention there are no monster mosquitos!
